Self Lubricating Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystal
For use in Tribological Applications Involving Frictional Properties

Introduction

Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystal(TZP) ceramics possess a good combination of advantageous properties including the following: high strength and refractory properties, low thermal conductivity, especially when compared with other ceramic materials.TZP ceramics are being used increasingly as one of the potential candidates for tribological applications involving frictional processes, lubrication, and wear on surfaces.

Our Technology

In our patent, nano-material techniques are used to overcome the disadvantages mentioned above. We have successfully prepared TZP-graphite ceramics composites through low-temperature fast-sinteringtechniques. These composites exhibit good mechanical properties and excellent tribological properties. In water its friction coefficient can approach 0.04, and its wear rate is also very low compared with dry sliding.

Properties

In water its friction coefficient can approach 0.04, and its wear rate is also very low compared with dry sliding. All of these results prove that this kind of material can be widely used for engines, cutting tools, and biological implants.

It can stand up to high amounts of friction and pressure.
