High Power CO2 Lasers RF Excited Fast Axial Flow Introduction The development of industrial CO2 lasers with beam output powers in the Kilowatt range have made great progress in past years. With the invention of fast axial gas flow technology, reasonable sized lasers become possible. On the other hand, the excitation in most systems on the market is still a direct current discharge excitation.
Our Technology We have built an RF excited fast axial flow CO2 laser with a greater reduction in cost and higher performance. A beam TEM00 mode quality with zero to 10kHz modulation capability allows the laser beam to cut metal sheet up to 10 mm thick. The laser can also be used to do laser welding and excitation is done with a capacitive coupled RF-discharge of 13.56 MHz frequency.
